Olivia Levadas has been making art all of her life and professionally for over a decade. Her passion for Art came naturally to her at a very young age. However, she was influenced by her upbringing in Washington D.C. and exposure to different cultures through her world travels.
Olivia attended the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C. where she received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree. She became well versed in many different mediums of Art from painting to sculpture (wood, metal, and stone) ceramics, and photography. However, her main focus was on painting. Her paintings and other art works were exhibited in galleries in Washington, DC and at the Corcoran Museum.
Her thirst for knowledge led her to Savannah, Georgia where she attended Savannah College of Art and Design. There, she received a Master of Art degree in Visual Effects and a second Master of Art in Film and Television.
After the completion of her higher education she had time to focus on some other interests such as fencing, becoming scuba certified and she is now in the final stages of completion for her private pilot’s license. With all of this going on, she still found time to express herself in her paintings.
Olivia likes to describe her work as an “enigma”. Even though she has many creative methods for producing her work, one of her favorites is when she discovers new ideas as the canvas takes on its own identity. She sees certain images in her compositions through her creative process which unfold while she works on the canvas with her tools, a colorful palette and her emotions.
When asked to describe her work, she stated: “Each stroke is a means to a new discovery which then results in the culmination of the end product. I see what the painting holds for me through the images that appear with the use of my line work, shapes and colors. I am pleased when the viewers can relate individually with what I derive from the art work; yet, I am also pleased when they have a discovery of their own and the piece touches them in a way that it can relate to their feelings or their lives based on what they discover in the painting.”
